Top Fourteen 6/8/15

Here's the GFDA Top 14 for this week, celebrating great things happening to move Great Falls Forward.

1) The rail construction bid packet for the Great Falls AgriTech Park was advertised in yesterday's Great Falls Tribune. Interested contractors should contact TD&H Engineering in Great Falls. There is a mandatory pre-bid meeting on June 18. Bids are due June 25. We are flexible when work commences so long as it is completed this season. Congratulations to Falls Construction for being low bidder on the water and sewer work, and United Materials on the road work. Lots 1-5 are taken. Lot 6A is available for construction start this season; 19.894 acres with rail, water, sewer, gas, paved road, redundant telecommunications, electric, and heavy industrial I-2 zoning; $30,000/acre. We have an extensive array of financing, workforce training and other economic development support to help manufacturers. Contact Jeremiah Johnson at 1-406-750-3285 or JJohnson@GFdevelopment.org
2) The C.M. Russell Museum announced an anonymous $575,000 gift that enabled the museum to purchase two Charles M. Russell watercolor paintings. Improvement projects underway at the museum include conserving the historic Russell home and studio, re-opening the Frederic G. Renner Library, reinstalling the Browning Firearms Collection, and upgrading HVAC and environmental controls. Mark your calendar for The Russell Exhibition and sale presented by BNSF, March 17-19, 2016!
3) Provided information to an out-of-state commercial development group exploring potential projects in the Great Falls market. Provided information on state and local tax abatement incentives, and nonconventional gap and bridge financing offered by and through GFDA.
4) The Great Falls City Commission awarded a $50,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to GFDA to help build our loan capital to keep up with demand. We'll use the funds to make gap and bridge loan(s) to start-ups and expanding businesses that create jobs for low and moderate income people, in partnership with our bank partners.
5) KFC/A&W re-opened on Central Avenue West in a newly renovated building. Congratulations to General Manager Brett Harris and his team!
6) Worked with a startup manufacturer on strategic goals and objectives, best fit organizational structures, market research and inventory management. 8) Made final preparations for the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary that kicks off this Monday. We'll have a two-person GFDA team meeting with companies, helping staff the state booth, and joining Governor Bullock for a special Montana reception Monday evening.
9) Reviewed two business plans for entrepreneurs working to start new businesses in the area. Worked with two entrepreneurs looking to buy existing businesses in Cascade County, assisting them with financing options, market analysis, and operational requirements.
